I can guarantee you that the guys that this snare drum was made for, are not tuning it that low. They're kinda crazy, but in an amazing wow kind of way. Banda players tune their snare drums to sound almost like marching band snares; with Clear Remo Pinstripes on the batter side. I'm sure LP made this with that in mind and made a snare drum that can take beatings, punishment, and abuse. I feel like LP modeled this after the usual snare drum made in Mexico for Banda; a lot of deep, steel snare drums with a lot of wires and 12 lugs. I like it. I like to see these bigger American brands notice banda because I think Banda is perhaps the most popular style of music in Mexico, but outside of Mexico, it kinda falls under the radar. I also like to see that people who play other genres are looking at this and considering getting it for their sets.

It might be worth noting on here that LP was purchased by DW in 2015, so that may speak to the high quality, and further accredit the phenomenal price point.

Great demo, gents! I had completely forgotten about this amazing snare, so thanks for that!!!

I had seen & heard it being demo'd in another YouTube video of coverage of LP's Booth at the 2018 NAMM show along with the new Banda Cowbells and thought to myself, "Now THAT would make for a unique and amazing sounding snare for my kit!", haha.

But as I said, I had completely forgotten about it. :-/ Thanks for the reminder and for confirming my suspicions of it being awesome! 👍

This snare was designed by LP to offer it to Banda players, a type of traditional mexican music, that tend to use a hig tension on their snare to obtain a bunch of crack, and a brighter sound. This type of tunning demands the strongest lugs ever!, like the type of crack of a marching band snare, but with a wide decay range to sounds for days. This was a great review like always this channel does, but I think they should test this snare with more tension to obteain the hight pitch for wich this snare was create, and test it playing some traditional Banda patterns, like sones, polka, etc..

Hi everyone! I'm looking for some advice on snare drums for Funk and Fusion. I'm currently comparing the LP Banda Snare to the 13-inch Gretsch Brooklyn Chrome snare. I mainly play Funk but love exploring interesting sounds and grooves, focusing heavily on hi-hat, kick, and snare to stay deep in the pocket.

Would the LP Banda Snare bring a unique vibe to my playing, or is the Gretsch Brooklyn a better choice in terms of quality, detail, and versatility? I’m after a snare that stands out but still complements my style. Thanks so much for your insights!

i feel like they mention its for salsa and timba music but forget the very genre this type of snare is used for, banda sinaloense, a sort of Mexican big band style of music that originated in Sinaloa, Mexico

Ludwig Supralite 14 x 8, Tama SLP 14 x 8, or LP Banda 14 x 8.5?

What a unit! Sounds very very good. Sound similiar to Sonor 14"x8" Danny Carey Signature

Steve Carey from Senses fail uses this as his main snare. Look up live videos, sounds great

Sounds great, oddly enough the 12 lugs makes it look like a 12" x 8" on camera 🤣🤣 So many hardware pieces!

240£ *spits coffee*
That's for sure a bargain
Probably going to buy it in the near future :)
I've got the impression that the batterhead is quit thin (even if it's 2-ply)
How habbits the snare at High-Tuning?

is the stock head single ply with an overtone ring on the under side?

I've been looking for a budget level snare that could replicate the Soundgarden Superunknown snare sound...and it looks like I just found it!
