The Jaguar strings were mellow, warm and sweet. The $5 strings sounded squeaky.

The expensive ones seems less shaky and more calm and smoother

especially with open strings and the lower half of the cello it makes a significant difference

For the cheap strings, they sound like if you're playing too close to the bridge. As for the expensive strings, they sound gorgeous

Cheap are WAY too bright and the expensive sound pretty nice

Yeah 5$ is more prone to those squeaks. Which makes it good for practicing bow control for beginners.
Also note: if you avoid rosining your bow for a while and practice that way it helps practice bow control too because if you have trouble gripping the string it makes you work harder.

There is a huge difference between them... However as a beginner these 289$ strings sound basically the same as my 20$ strings

Main difference is on the higher strings where they squeak on the cheap strings

100%. I turned my phone around so I couldn’t see the answer and I was like mid playing because one second I’m like that definitely sounds cheap and the next it sounded expensive. Than I watched the vid and it made so much sense 😂

What I do to make up for this is put rosin on my strings…. HEAR ME OUT!!! It makes the tone warmer 😂
