I love my 261. If I need something more that a 20” bar I usually grab the 500i; however, if I was looking at something in the 362’s range I would go for the 400. The 462’s price right now is just plain crazy in my neck of the woods. Even the 261 has done an almost $200 price increase since 2019

I always grab one of the 362 at work.
We have bars from 20-28”, and they make easy work of big stuff.
For my personal saw at home, I’m still running a 290.
But, if I was looking at buying a saw for homestead/firewood use, I’d pick buy both the Echo 590 & the Echo 310 for limbing, and still be $350 cheaper than a (although I love the) ms-362

I have the 362 R-CM. I got that one specifically because I could only afford one pro saw. It’s big enough to handle big cuts but small enough to be feasible in lighter cutting tasks too. I will probably end up selling when money allows and getting a 261 with a 16”for small tasks and a 500i with a 28” light bar. I’m leaning heavily towards getting the new dewalt 60v top handle saw for limbing

It looks to me like the 261 is dull compared to the 362.
I would like to see a side by side comparison with both of those two saws sporting brand new chains.

This is gonna get me a lot of hate, but I would buy an echo cs 590p. Way better saws for the price and have loads of power. I've ran a 28 on mine and it pulls it just fine. A 24 is what lives on that saw. STIHL has gotten ridiculously expensive over the last few years right along with husqvarna. You could even buy the Echo cs620p and have a little more power yet for 300 less than the stihl. Shit for the price of the stihl, you could buy the Echo 7310 which is just as good as the ms400 and when modified whoops a stock 500i. Idk I think the name brand thing has gotten out of hand anymore.
