As a Texan, Texas being broken to pay of debts is true and we learn it in Texas history.

The claimed borders were completely ridiculous as well. The Texas Republic only really controlled the area between the Sabine and the Nueces east of the 100th meridian.

Ironically, the US supported what was essentially a pro-slavery secessionist movement in another country, a precedent which would backfire spectacularly a generation later.

Texas declared independence from Mexico to keep slavery, that was abolished in Mexico in 1829...😅

There’s a memorial plaque near St.James’s palace London where the Texas embassy stood .

Don't forget that the Oklahoma panhandle exists because of the Missouri compromise.

Me as a Texan: wish we could turn back time to the good old days
Edit: I’m talking about the Republic of Texas 1836-1846 not Texas in 1835-1836

Correction on the northern border/claim: It extended much farther north than marked here. It reached roughly up to the town of Rawlins off of i80.

Texas was the smaller portion above rio de las nueces. the 1824 constitution stated clearly Coahulila-Tejas. Ironically the 1824 flag was used during the rebellion.

The American version always makes me laugh, the truth is that being an uninhabited territory, Mexico let people from the United States enter with slavery, it was a mistake because then they wanted to appropriate the land and then they became independent and then the United States stole this land
