What might a World Class fossil exhibit look like for West Dorset - PART 1
Показать описание
PART 1 - West Dorset is one of the most famous fossil localities in the world and yet after 20 years and some £37 million spent on capital projects associated in some shape or form with the designation, it is now last on the list. So this talk is a simple demonstration of how to select fossils from the West Dorset fossil code of conduct recording scheme, by thinking about what stories we want to tell, and from that, what specimens we would want to use to tell those stories. It is a very simple 'virtual exhibition' that illustrates, indeed demonstrates, both the scale of the failure of World Heritage to date, and the obvious yet unrealised opportunity that is still out there for now, for so long as the collectors continue to hold onto their amazing discoveries.
