I am learning new things as well and saw a need to update these skill sets.

There are a lot of definitions and descriptions of what it means to be a man. With so many descriptions, it's hard to know what it really means and what it really takes to be a man in today's society.

I've narrowed it down to 8 skill sets every man must master:

Relationships-Building powerful relationships with friends, family, and co-workers is necessary if you want to achieve any level of success.

Intellect-We, as men, cannot use ignorance as an excuse to live a mediocre life. We must continually gain knowledge to get ahead.

Leadership-At some point, you will be called upon as a leader in your business, family, or community. Your ability to influence and lead others will spell the difference between success and failure.

Manly Skills-A manly-man is a man that knows his way around the tools. But developing manly skills is so much more important than that. You need to become resourceful in all areas of life.

Money & Finance-Do you know how to handle your money? If not, becoming a man means that you are a good steward over the resources that you have. Learning to master your money, will ensure that you have more of it.

Physical Fitness-Losing weight, becoming stronger, eating healthy: these are all things that a real man is developing. Not only will you look better, but you'll perform better too in all areas of your life.

Self-Mastery-The man who can best control his mind, wins! Are you aware of the information that is going into your mind? Discipline, courage, commitment, and other virtues all start in the mind and it's your job to control it.

Style & Fashion-As a contractor would use a hammer to build a house, you can use style and fashion as a tool to help you accomplish what you want. Always strive to look your best. If you look good, you play good.

My dad didn't teach me much... So I had to learn about life the hard way.
Worked for me.

I would add being a teacher. One of the most important jobs a man has is teaching the next generation of men how to act. Teach with words and by example.

The first time my father ever looked at me with awe was the day I took a bicycle brake cable and repaired the throttle cable on his department's pump truck on a holiday weekend...when he retired, the same cable was on that truck...he told that story time and again...

I would disagree with fashion ... but completely agree with style. Fashion comes and goes. Style is strong, confident and timeless.

I believe number two is the most important. My paternal Grandfather went to work on a ranch as a wrangler in his early teens to help support his family and never finished high school. He made up for it two ways. First he made up for his lack of formal education by reading and writing every day as well as learning math from one of his sisters. Secondly, he learned all he could about horses and cows and became a successful rancher who started from scratch. He was well respected in the community because he was level headed and took time to think through a problem before acting. I believe we should all improve ourselves no matter where we start.

I just loved how not one of the skills directly involved women. That in itself makes it worth listen to.

I’m 53 and listening that reinforces what my father taught me. Thanks

Great video! I'm proud to say after years of hard work I've achieved alot of these! I'm a fighter pilot, I rebuilt a 51 Chevy pickup, my wife and I will be debt free in a year, and I quit porn about 4 years ago. Always improving but It's nice every once in awhile to look back at where I've been. Great advice all around.
