The Department of Labor reports 473,000 Americans filed new jobless claims last week, down 34,000 from the previous week and the lowest number since the beginning of the pandemic. Lori Bettinger, president of BancAlliance and former director of the Obama administration's Troubled Asset Relief Program, joined CBSN to discuss what the numbers mean for the U.S. economy.

The numbers are always BS. How many people just gave up or were forced into retirement or forced out of the system once their benefits ended?

There's already data out there (and a good article published in WaPo) about ppl rethinking what "work" is and what it should be. Those who complain they can't find workers are the ones typically paying indigent wages and are in the minority. Most non-farm payroll added last month were from service sector, especially restaurants. Google is free.

Eventually there will be nobody working to lose a job so your new unemployment number will be 0.

Great so #PayThePending EDD is making Americans suffer, they refuse to answer the phone, don’t respond to email or snail mail, are violating people’s due process rights by all of a sudden, without notice, pending people’s payments!! Help these people!

I bet the jobs with the biggest issues are customer-facing. I wouldn't want to face a rowdy, maskless public right now!

This is the exact same thing as Trump celebrating less people on food stamps,

After they lower the number of people available.
