Watched R6 Pro League consistently for years up until KiXSTAr passed. Never missed a match when he was one of the commentators. Had no idea how infectious his passion and excitement was until it wasn't there anymore. Haven't watched a live event or Vod since. RIP Michael.

This game is like no other. As an "old man" and former athlete, it is the only game that has ever given me the intensity and rush of true competition. I've spent more hours than i care to admit trying to get better, and attempting to learn how to get an edge in the next round. Pro league gives people like me a glimpse of is possible at the highest level of the game. I do feel like you absolutely need some knowledge to understand what the heck is going on in a match though, and that is surely going to hinder any possible audience growth. It's just not as simple as "team A vs team B", or capture the flag, TDM, etc. It's a delicate dance in which things drastically swing by every decision that is made. It's like 3d chess to call of duty's checkers.... and i wouldn't want it any other way

Just the fact that Siege still has a Pro League is proof of how alive this game still is and will be for years. CSGO is the Pro League gold standard and will never die.

My biggest problem with Pro Siege games is the poor spectator mode. It misses a lot of the action and important decisions needed to be made.

I think to any esport (for the most part) you have to market the team/ players. Once the public can see the personality of some of the players R6 will get more eyes. Like in CS Val or even CoD the “big matches” are the higher profile teams not necessarily the better talented ones.

siege was my most played game from white noise until shifting tides, when I kinda stopped playing and got more into CSGO. Trying to play siege now, it feels like an entirely different game that I have to learn all over again. I can see why some find it overwhelming and hard to get into.

I think it has to do with the skill gap and how daunting it is to learn how siege is played and compared to CSGO, which is simple and easy to tune in

An improvement for the spectator view/match replay id like to see is fov cones for players and drones. Imagine the sphere we see for an eltro claw but showing the area a yokai or valk cam can see. Even if it isnt that useful for proleauge spectating it would be a handy training tool.

I still watch Siege esport quite a bit, and actually get interested in new teams and don’t just stick with the old favorites (SSG)
But yes it’s sad to see how poor the esport does, because the production isn’t bad, and the hosting and commenting is VERY good (love you Milosh)

I think you've hit the nail on all the problems R6 has with ESports. Between the alienation it receives as a result of it's complexity and the simple disinterest people have in the scene (especially out of the U.S.), most people just have other preferences.

Though I don't really mind playing R6 myself, I find soloqueue to be incredibly lackluster compared to playing with friends, however most of my friends don't care for R6. I guess another reason it could have a lower interest rate could be difficulty in playing with comrades, even casually.

It's hard even as an avid fan and long time player to watch a match when there are technical time outs every few rounds. Especially in these best of threes in the major. That kills it for me more than anything else. The recent M80 and MNM games had probably 8 or 9 TTOS throughout the series and the final rounds were unwatchable because the main streaming PC died twice. Makes it really hard to be excited about a match and you can tell it kills the momentum for the players too. We are 8 years into the game, there is hardly an excuse for some of these drone and audio bugs to still be prevalent.

I think most people’s attention spans are just so short that they have a hard time paying attention to what is happening in a round and the slow paced gameplay of comp siege. Where in csgo or valorant it’s more of a fast paced round starts go fight kind of game so it’s easier for people of even low levels to follow

The sudden cutoff of the video ending is great. Immediately makes me want to watch another one of your videos, the thumbnails are looking awesome, I appreciate the effort going into the content you make for us.

You just described my exact feeling as a fighting game fan and player

Regardless, Siege NEEDS more spectator during the matches. Specs for kills, specs for util etc

Once again, excellent vid Gregor. Learned a few and laughed a few. You'd make a great teacher dude.

I think that something that adds popularity to both csgo and valorant is that they are free and can be played even on basic pc while r6 requires a more powerfull pc, you have to buy it and it doesn't have excellent advertising like valorant.

As a casual player, I don’t watch much Pro League unless it’s to review a talked about strat or play and learn from it. But when I do watch, it damn sure is entertaining.

My experience with Siege is a lot different than most people. I didnt touch the game until I got to college, I heard about the school's new esports program and asked to join. Having never touched MnK or Siege I was thrown into comp format while learning the game. 3 years later and many hours playing... I'm mediocre at best, but I love the game and I've spent the last few years listening to how its dying to never return.
