As a mechanic please let me be the one to tell you that if you genuinely love cars do not become a mechanic because it will make you hate cars 90 percent of the time

I’m in high school and getting my license this year, I have a deal with my mom to get me a 350z over summer and watching your videos is helping me learn more and more
Update… I GOT THE Z!!

350z was my high school dream car and I finally purchased one in college. The VQ sound (when done right) is one of a kind. I'd suggest at least learning to drive with a more tame car because the base models don't even have traction control! (which can be a good thing)

Being someone who lives in the UK and has just turned 21, it blows my mind that a 3.5L 350z is even considered a car for a student. Over here students tend to get small engined hatchbacks that cost next to nothing to buy, run and insure.

If Johnny tells you something about 350z’s then he is always correct.

I'm in high school and I have one, I love it. I find that every car has its pros and cons, and with things like small oil burns and insurance it's still totally worth it if you like the car in the first place.

I'm still in high school and I got a 350z touring edition 08 (auto) as my first car so id say its a pretty good car if you can manage the money aspect. just please make sure your maintenance is good and please don't trash it around if its your first car. as long as you keep the car in good condition then you should be fine.

I just graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UW. I too, wanted to find something that would tie back in with my love for cars. Going through the classes was really cool because a lot of what you learn can be tied back. Especially Thermodynamics where you learn basics of combustion, different types of engines and how they produce power, or Machine Design II, where you learn about shafts and gears, or Machining class (it was an elective for me in my program), where you learn how to use lathes, mills, utilization of different metals/materials, Material Science class where you learn the strengths behaviors of different materials and how they can change, the list goes on. Best part about this particular field, is that we sort of fit anywhere. Its such a broad study and we cover so many different topics, that you can really apply to a lot of different engineering positions. It's not going to be easy and there is going to be a lot of nights studying with friends, empty pizza boxes, hours of dedication in the library, but I'll tell you now, it is very worth it. I hope this helps you decide, and good luck on your future <3

I am writing from Turkey, how many years do we have to work even to buy cars with such a small price according to you. Even though I feel happy for others when I come across videos like this, now I want to be happy for myself as well. These cars are sold at incredible prices for us and we have to spend a lifetime to buy them. I just wanted to translate my feelings, I love your videos, keep it up.

Average 350z costs here atleast above 12k euro's and now with the gas price 2 euro's per liter it is pretty expensive. Still my dream car :)

I’m hopefully getting a 03 350z this weekend!

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:

01:44 🚗 *Considerations for owning a 350Z as a college student: Insurance concerns due to limited driving experience and potential challenges in adverse weather conditions.*
03:43 🌟 *Positive aspects of owning a 350Z as a student: Impressive styling, iconic presence at car shows, and enjoyable driving experience.*
04:52 🚗 *Maintenance tip: Rear-wheel-drive nature of the 350Z may result in faster wear on rear tires; swapping tires at the right time can extend their lifespan.*
06:35 🚦 *Fuel efficiency: The 350Z's V6 engine offers decent gas mileage, making it a reasonable choice for a sports car.*
08:31 🎓 *Overall recommendation: Owning a 350Z while in school is encouraged, provided the driver understands the car's capabilities, practices self-control, and considers parking ease.*

I’m a junior in high school and people would open up my wind shield wipers and put stuff in my exhaust. People in high school be hating. If I were to bring my dropped truck that I’m working on people would throw shit in my cab and draw on my wheels

I got the g35 2nd gen g35 for free during high school and have been using it now 2nd year of college. The previous owner barely had any problems with the car, I've had none I think it's the only car I trust that will last me until end of med school and beyond. Only problem is gas, in my area it is $4 a gallon.

The one heads up would be, be ready to spend on gas... specially if you live in cali! As my daily driver through college, I loved my z, made commuting fun (except during peak socal traffic lol) but mad... i spent a lot on gas! Now that i'm older i'm more conscious of my spending lol but still, would do it again 10/10

In basic no.
Unless you make 15/hr and or live with your parents good luck.

Common Z probs/Mods to fix
Catch Can: $100
Valve Co Gaskets:$100
Diff Bushings: $200 w Tool
Engine/Trans Mounts: $350
Clutch Flywheel 5-6yrs: $700
Suspension (shit ball joints/struts from factory) $600-2000
Gas Mileage: 15-25MPG w 93 Octane @ $3.60/gal.
Tires: $650
Insurance: 150-300$/mo
Payment if financed: 180-360/mo

They are however fun to drive, crank everytime, meaning most of the issues are cosmetic or bushing/Mount related, very few electrical issues and overall are great, easy to drive and park, enough power for a daily drive without risking too much for teens that have trouble judging distance. (I.e pulling out into traffic). And tbh as long as your mirrors are set they have GREAT visibility believe it or not.

If you’re working minimum wage and don’t have mechanical knowledge and or help I wouldn’t advise it.

If you’re making double minimum wage and have some mechanical expertise, as well as access to tools then sure.

So unless you buy a real minty Z, you’ll be replacing some parts, expect to spend 10k regardless. If you can afford either the payment or the parts while working part time, and have the time to install them yourself, or have a parent guardian to help you, then you’ll do great. If you don’t, then I would steer clear and buy something that won’t eat your money over 6 years time.

Living somewhere where it has bad winters is such a vibe killer when these fire cars like the z are rear wheel😭😭🥺
