I bought NGK for my Jaguar last summer from Amazon, never thought to check if they were legit. They work fine though.

Some of the Fakes are actually being sold on Amazon and they look exactly like the real thing . The CR9EIX Iridium plugs Look exactly like the real ones except they are nearly 2 mm longer and they will smash into the face of your piston immediately upon trying to crank your engine

the core under the porcelein part is copper at ngk original ones, and steel core at couterfeit ones. so you can check it with magnets..

I bought my NGK from Rock Auto. The last were Denso Iridium from Amazon and the center electrodes all wore off to where the gap is way to big than the 0.044 in spec'd. Checking hte engine but so far no issues.

They could EASILY correct the position of the blue printing and the washer....so I would mostly worry about the 4 digit stamping ...my guess is they take generic plugs and re mark them....btw they are doing this with practically ANYTHING they think they can get away with ....THIEVES that need to be caught and TORTURED slowly on YouTube for all victims to enjoy!....btw unscrupulous might not even care if the plugs they were re-marking were even the correct heat just want to KILL these types! SO SO many crooks these days! Zero conscious "ANYTHING for a buck no matter who suffers"

Great informational video, thankyou. Just purchased 4 spark plugs on ebay called "iridium". Waiting for their arrival. From the photos, have "Japan" stamped on the hex section of the plug where the spark plug socket sits to tighten/loosen. I will be sending back for a refund. Price set of 4 was 18.99. My alarm bells should have been ringing as the price is really cheap for iridiums. Cheers from Australia.

Genuine manufacturers stopping fakes is like a blindfolded farmer trying to catch mice in his barn with the lights turned off...best of luck with that

Here is the problem, when companies move production to China they have to sign wavers stating that the products manufactured in that factory will be copied! Not really a whole lot one can do about it!

Maybe you should start fixing broken Ferrari's and sell them? Fixing cars seems to be the new automotive trend on YT.

The other day I purchased NGK 4998 for my 2011 wrangler from CarID the price was just 6.75 each a great deal everyone else on Amazon and Ebay are selling the same plugs for $10 to $15.00 a piece I have even seen one vendor sell these plugs for $26.31 So at the price that CarID is selling am not sure if they are real or not just cheap Chinese knock offs. Can CarID be trusted not to sell crap ?

If you look on Alibaba you will see chinese factories copy any plug including genuine oem packaging if you want. Always buy from an approved vendor or you will most likely have fakes.
