[DH-7] Block on Frictionless Table with Mass Hanging over Pulley (Dynamics)

In this problem a block sits on a frictionless, horizontal, table. It is attached to a mass hanging off the table by a massless rope over a frictionless table. Acceleration of the system and Tension of the rope expressed in terms of m1, m2, and g. Numbers are then introduced the the problem and Tension, and Acceleration are calculated. Finally, the limiting cases of Mass 1 Much Greather than Mass 2, and Mass 2 Much Greater than Mass 1 are discussed. [DH-7] [10/29/2010]

What if there is a force of friction acting on the object in the operation direction? Would you still be able to substitute m1a for T?
