We have had requests for a summary of the interview with Prof Cohen. This video is a summary of the key points from the interviews. As I note in the introduction, this is my interpretation of what Prof Cohen said, please check the original interviews if you have any questions. And please do feel free to let me know if you think I got something wrong!

Professor Haim Cohen is the director of the Sagol Healthy Human Longevity Center at Bar-Ilan University where he focuses much of his research on the SIRT6 protein. In May 2021 he and his team published a paper showing a 30% increase in lifespan in a mouse model by over expressing SIRT6.

Very good idea, Richard. Thank you for going the extra distance to make sure we have the right takeaways from this important interview!

Great idea to summarize the interviews.
Main takeaways for me related to Sirt 6 activation: stay slim; keep exercising; wait for future supplement and other developments.

Thanks Richard. Very helpful. A summary is something to consider for all your quests as they would be great resources.

Thank you for this summary! For even the parts I followed during the interviews, a review is always helpful.

Thanks, Richard, for doing the summary. I was really interested in Professor Cohen's work, but I had a really hard time with the audio.

BTW, there is literature indicating that exercise supports NAD+ levels which in turn helps with SIRT6 levels. Besides fucoidan in certain algaes I've found that the polyphenols, cyanidin and theaflavin, and ursolic acid upregulates SIRT6 too. Not clear how much of an effect, but foods that contain one or more of them are likely in a good diet.

An idea put forward in this video is that SIRT6 might help men more than woman, because it lowers IGF-1 levels. Note that IGF-1 levels can also be lowered by reducing protein intake, even limiting protein to the recommended level of .8 grams per kilogram of body weight lowers IGF-1, because most people eat too much protein. Lots of advertising and many self-appointed health gurus recommend eating more protein, contrary to the actual science and the official guidelines. Switching from animal protein to plant protein also lowers IGF-1 levels.

Is there any research on the impact being underweight has on the various mechanisms of cellular aging?

Well done! Richard, I also heard Sinclair is going to make SIRT6 activator as well.

Actually IMO for those of us who have been researching SIRT6 and other longevity and longer health molecules and methods to extend our lives and stay healthier longer this was useless and added no new information. The title is totally misleading. The title of this threat was "how to activate SIRT 6." As far as I can tell the only advice was to stay lean. But there was no correlation shown between staying lean and longevity extension.

Frankly there is a lot of other available information which is much more useful. I've been studying this for awhile given my lifelong interest in biochemistry and cellular biology although it is not my profession. Nevertheless we have a lot of information about NAD+ activators and the salvage pathway, senolytics like Fisetin, Quercetin, other life extenders like Taurine. Sirt 1 activators like low dosage Resveratrol and its contrary effect at high dosage, the effect of Leucine in the right dosages to activate AMPK without activating MTOR, the protective effect on DNA of spermidine, and other SIRT 6 activators like Fucoidan and cyanadin. A one year supply of Fucoidan from the company DoNotAge would cost me $1600 a year. Black Mulberry extract which has the highest level of Cyanadin costs almost nothing. Fucoidan can be purchased at a much lower cost than from DoNotAge but is one Fucoidan as effective as another? And we have much more.

So what did this add of value to those who want to activate Sirt 6? IMO nothing. That is why I'm going to have to report the original thread as misleading. From now on choose a title which corresponds with what the topic is actually about and be sure that what is said is understandable. Those of us who are interested in this topic are looking for as much useful information as we can find but that information was not here and watching both this and the previous video it referenced was for me a total waste of time and a disappointment.
