It’s virtue signaling. My first thought when I heard 150 shades was ‘how are they making a profit?’ . They aren’t. It’s a stunt to make them look inclusive without having to do anything. Guarantee that most of those shades are ‘sold out’.

The reason they're doing this in Korea is because TirTir is successfully overwhelming the competition with their global shade range in different formulas. Laneige doesn't care about anything except the PR headline and maybe trying to capitalize on TirTir's incredible marketing.

Also, paying one large creator to rage bait smaller content creators into talking about their product is a lot cheaper than shipping foundation worldwide.

And the fact they have released more shades for older cushion at Target when they first started pushing for Western markets still boggles my mind why they haven't done it again. I think you could possibly find their medium to tan shades in SE Asia but I still don't understand why they haven't done it yet for the rest markets they are in.
