Bob Dylan - Knockin' On Heaven's Door (LIVE FOOTAGE) [Rolling Thunder Revue, 1975]

This is an incredible performance of one of Bob's greatest hits. He's joined by Scarlet Rivera (violin), lead guitarist Mick Ronson (just out of David Bowie's Spiders From Mars band), Rob Stoner (bass), David Mansfield (pedal steel guitar), Bob Neuwirth (guitar), Ronee Blakley (backup vocals), and drummer Howie Wyeth. Dylan's accompanied on vocals and 12-string guitar by Byrds frontman Roger McGuinn.

Peace & Love,

My favorite version of this song. Particularly love that Dylan changes the first line to “Mama wipe the blood off of my face”

The one thing that stands out with this video is the eye contact between Roger and Bob. Also the gestures Bob gives to Roger to take the mic. Every time I see this video, you learn something new about Bob Dylan...

Dylan in 75. What can you say. Full of mystic fire, freshly infected by the Land of Enchantment. The power of a great Voice primarily is in the silence that they keep. From the stillness of the dancer, art arises. Having something to say orients itself in observation - witness. In another age, he is a prophet, a protector, too. It takes more than one lifetime to become Bob Dylan. That, in part, is how we recognise him. All human beings are God, with God. Some just kick ass at it more than others. Mahalo, Maestro Maestrissimo. I have watched you fly over the centuries, seen what you have overcome. No-one knows the critical role you have played in the survival of humanity. I do.

Pearls. Those that dive for them are heroes. Those that wear them belong where they came from. Great stuff this thanks x

Really fantastic. Thank you so much for this video. I always enjoy hearing and seeing Bob Dylan to the utmost but having Roger McGuinn also singing and playing guitar
is like 'bringing it all back home'.

thanks swingin, love this version, did a good job with the overdubbed audio, the cambridge performance is probably the best of this song on the tour, or maybe ever.

wow, makes life worth living. Scarlett’s eyes captured my imagination. McGuinn on 12 string. And some of the lyrics on this version reflecting the early Americana and gospel traditions. Just wonderful. Happy birthday Bob Dylan.🎉

I saw the Rolling Thunder Revue... when they came thru Wichita, Kansas with a 4 day notice.. It was amazing. I saw Mr. Dylan again in the mid 90's in Seattle at Memorial stadium when he toured with Santana... Again, a great show.
