I did not expect such a modular design. Which makes sense looking at the changes in GT racing for WEC (GT3 coming)

My son was (still is) the Crew Chief for the 296 GT3 fielded by Risi Competizione in the 24 Hours ofDaytona. Unfortunately, they only made it halfway through the race due to damage to the floorboard after one of the GTD cars collided with the #62 car. I have to agree with others that this is one of the cleaner looking designs Ferrari has put forth in the GT classes in a while. Let's hope that is all the bad luck they will experience this year.

In my opinion ferrari is clearly making this car to be a really good endurance car for the new gt3 category for the wec.
Do you think other gt3 manufacturers will be giving updates to their current cars or build a new car in this style?

Its wicked. More compact and the 6 cylinders are perfect. Aim to win!

Another thing about this car is that the transmission is transversally located unlike in the road 296. Edit: you already said it at 4:20 i just realized

5, 000 psi is impressive for a gas engine. That’s just at or below most modern diesel engines idle rail pressure.

Interesting to see a racing car with a focus on something that doesn't really affect lap time, which makes sense considering it's an area not regulated by BoP. (to my knowledge at least)

Great analysis as always. A hot-v V6 is a very elegant and compact engine layout - also see the McLaren Artura. Originally, Aston Martin also planned to have this layout (TM01 engine). It's a pity there will be no serial production at Aston Martin.

A pretty looklike Ferrari LM 250 design, a noble V6, aluminium shape, the many smart technical aspects you describe, my favorite GT3 car.

2:50 I bet these blanked squares will be replaced by additional endurance lights for night races.

So much better than the previous GT3 designs. Well reviewed.

I think it looks like a very modern car design, and other manufacturers will be wanting to catch up. I imagine the BOP will have to handicap it highly, considering most cars are evo's on the grid. I'm sure Ferarri produced the 296 with the sole aim of a new GT3 platform for the next few years.

Engine architecture is very similar to early 80’ F1 engine (126c) down to the turbo’s in the vee

I still like more old 458 GT3, more smooth design and insane engine sound.

Making one in a game, very helpful learning some of the intricacies. Design is pretty interesting and didn't know the center of the front splitter was raised for better airflow. Very interesting.

Are you sure about the direction of the vortex rotation on the dive planes and splitter side plates?

Should sound and perform as good as it looks.
