Here's my theory. Bring a 2024 spec B++++ car, with flexie something on, and then bring out the 2025 spec car after Spain. There.

The 2024 Red Bull was actually a very good car. The issue was that Red Bull had no clue how to set the car up. We saw how good it was at the start if the year and while other teams did make improvements we still saw that at Spa it was quickest, in the wet at Brazil it worked very well and at Qatar the difference a setup made was the most obvious.

Not winning gave RB an advantage in money, as they have now more resources to develop their 2026 car plus it gave them also more time with the wind tunnel.

They've changed and semplified the car "interior" airflows and ducts... last year RB2O has a compromised structure due to Newey's radical cooling systems.

Could they be bring a B spec in Barcelona like Merc did in 2023? Or do they not care about the last year of these regs and want the maximum aero time they can get for 2026, as their engine will be weak. Either way it's an odd game they're playing especially as Verstappen has clauses that allow him to leave if Red Bull don't deliver a competitive car.

youve seen this a million times already when new major regs are introduced. nnones spending money on the 25 car, all developments will be things carried over to 26. Then ford are coming. That never ended well. Verstappen will be switching this year.

F1 coverage is so frustrating. There's no mystery with RB's pace falling off of a cliff coinciding after the reg "clarification", which apparently was done for no reason, because definitely there wasn't a single team bending the rules. 🤦‍♂
