109+ million meals served - The WCK Way in 2024

In 2024, WCK supported families affected by conflict, natural disasters, and the worsening impacts of the climate crisis in 20 countries, providing over 109 million meals. As of December, our teams are on the ground in Ukraine, Gaza, Lebanon, Mayotte, Egypt, Spain, and North Carolina, working with partners and volunteers to cook and deliver nourishing meals. Since October 2023, we have been serving families in Gaza on the brink of starvation, while in Ukraine, we are approaching three years of relief efforts amid escalating attacks following Russia’s 2022 invasion. We see the best of humanity everywhere we respond to a disaster as neighbors join us in bringing hope to families in need—one plate of food at a time.

What a wonderful organization, I shared this video with three good friends, and they have now donated. If everyone just shares with one friend, then they will double their reach! But one thing. You are great. Try to get people to give you back the plastic containers that you served the food to them in.

I know, it's petty. But there is this landfill I like to call America and it's spreading from country to country. We started it. I watched the movie, The Graduate with Dustin Hoffman and Ann Bancroft. And he was given the career advice from an older gentleman, one word, "PLASTICS".

And things have never been the same since.

I kind of want to dare you to serve your take home things in degradable cellulose fiber containers instead of Plastic.

I know, I know. So much more expensive. Yep the front end cost is more. What about the back end costs?

What is happening with that research in finding bacteria or fungi that can accelerate the decomposition of some heavier chain or ring plastic structures back into their monomer subunits?

Until then, how about degradable stuff please. Like I get it. it's like asking the fireman to lock the door at the house after he leaves having just put out the fire.
