Qui peut dire encore que seule la musique compte dans une chanson ? Je suis bouleversé par ce cri, qui trainait dans ma mémoire comme dans la vôtre.
On peut très bien dire que la déchirure éprouvée au moment d'un basculement de réalité résume qu'il s'agit bien de confiance perdue dans tous les cas. C'est vous qui étiez, dès le départ, un étranger et c'est vous qu'on rappelle à votre solitude.

Quand je pense que je n’avais jamais entendu cette chanson parce que je n’avais jamais cherché à savoir ce qu’elle raconte ! Alors, je me penche sur le texte ; à présent je connais les mots accrochés aux syllabes de cette mélodie, je comprends et je pleure. Et puis cette voix, cette flamme dans la gorge !

Ever since hearing him on "Jesus Christ Superstar" I've always felt that Murray Head's voice is incredible. It's a shame that he never became a superstar. This one specific song, however, is truly his masterpiece; nearly 50 years after its initial release it still brings chills and goosebumps

Mon Dieu quelle émotion, j'en ai les larmes aux yeux et la chair de poule à chaque fois que j'entend cette chanson. Elle me ramène en arrière, à mes années d'adolescence avec beaucoup de nostalgie de cette merveilleuse époque. J'aimerai de temps en temps remonter le temps et revivre ne serait-ce qu'un instant de ma jeunesse. this song was in the back of my memories but I did not know until a few years ago I heard it again for the first time in more than forty years, it just Blew me and unleashed so many memories of my childhood, listening to it on the radio, shops, etc, I suddenly was six or seven years old, it brought a wave of happiness and goose bumps. Now this haunting, mesmerizing and prophetic song is part of my life, I could listen to Murray's voice for ever. Please listen to the rest of his songs, he really is an underrated, hidden gem, especially in this era of hollow lame tunes. Thanks for this music, to whoever posted it, and Thank you, Murray!🌹

J'aimais cette chanson dejà avant de regarder de quoi elle parlait réellement, pour sa progression et son changement de style en cours de route. Mais avec le texte, c'est une construction absolument magistrale :

guitare légère et voix blanche pour le choc et l'incrédulité, passage acoustique pour le moment où le narrateur est plongé dans ses reflexions et se demande ce qui va se passer ensuite.
Le choeur qui s'ajoute progressivement, l'entrée de la basse pour lancer la réaction, avant que Murray ne donne toute sa voix pour la montée et l'explosion de colère. On passe musicalement d'un gars déçu par ce qu'il apprend a toute une foule qui manifeste pour demander des comptes à celui qui a trahi. C'est incroyablement brillant. Il mérite plus que largement son succès.
Et le reste du disque est aussi une pépite ❤

Bought this album at a record store in 1975 at Yonge and Bloor, has been one of my favourites ever since. Had to buy it two more times on vinyl and then on CD (wore them out) Best version, great tune.
