Tiny HO Train Layout Build - 4x6 Model Railroad

In 2023 I was designing a variety of compact track plans ideal for smaller spaces like apartments. The goal was to make something that could maximize the amount of possibilities with an area of 4x6 square feet or less.

Several iterations were created until I put this one together. This train layout stood out as it allows for the operation of two trains at the same time plus three different circuits to run them on.

I sent the designs to a friend of mine and asked if he would be interested in this future layout for his son, he agreed and I immediately started stocking up on supplies to make it a reality.

Interesting you went with HO on this tiny footprint, with steep grades and tight curves. Awesome job! Looking forward to next video update.

Excellent example of a small HO layout! 🙂
I've been wanting to build a small layout in a spare bedroom in my tiny NY apartment just so I can watch trains run around in circles, but i never imagined that an HO layout could be so small. This layout is perfect. I might just build this exact layout... I even have room to make it a little bigger than this. My only suggestion would be to put a piece of 3/4" plywood under the foam so it doesn't sag over time, and put a fascia around it that rises about an inch above ground level to prevent trains from taking the big leap.
I just wish you had put your track plan up on the screen for a second so I could have taken a screen shot!

That was fun to watch…perfect size for a starter, or, if your 75, relive some old times with collected and saved rolling stock…look forward to the next episode…cheers and Happy New Year from Orleans…

It might not be prototypical and it sure as well breaks all "rules" as specified by the HO community, but I'm also very much sure it will bring a lot of joy. And that is ultimately the end goal for all layouts.

Impressive amount of track packed in! Fascinated to see how you will add scenery to this, especially with the very small clearance between carriages and polystyrene walls. Subscribed!

That...was very cool and interesting layout for the space. Did a great job. I wish I had dedicated space for my split 4x8' boards and tracks... Nice job there..!
