"Who is this for, " you say?
Let me tell you a little story. I live very close to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. While I was in Bethlehem one day I ran into a fellow who told me of a car load of people from Alabama who stopped to ask to directions to the place where Jesus was born.
"Did you set them straight?" I asked.
"Hell no! I gave them directions. Anybody that stupid deserves to go on a wild goose chase."
That's who the board is for.

Not a person of faith but even I can recognize how much of a mockery people of faith would see this. Everything about this screams 'scam' and 'cash grab'.

As someone who worked at Christian bookstores for over 10 years...i did NOT assume this was a joke at first... you'd be surprised at all the "let's take this worldly thing and make it holy" products & practices that exist.

I got into it BIG time with a fundy about this. Hilarious. I was highly offended that he considered the ouiji board contrary to God's communication standards, whereas a burning bush was "appropriate to the times" in which God spoke to Moses.
And I'm like, my dude, how the hell is a cheeky plastic mass produced product on Amazon NOT appropriate to these modern times??

Knowing oija boards are made in Baltimore explains so much

Why are so many of the christian reviews yelling? Do they know that they can turn their caps lock off or have they just been overtaken by the devil?

Back when I lived with my super messy hyper religious family of origin, i would have loved this. Not because I was a believer, but because I'd love to see how my mom, who was terrified of all things she believed were associated with the occult, would have to do mental backflips to praise me for enjoying something religious. 😅

I think it WAS a joke but then some scummy megachurch huckster saw it and was like "no really let's make money with it."

The feedback is at least interesting. I was raised baptist and converted to Catholicism in college before winding up in the agnosti-pagan-esque camp...anywhoo!, I can completely understand how someone could be offended by this, but it really seems like it was MEANT to give to that coworker that smiles at your misfortune while offering to 'pray for you.' 🤭🙄

The negative reviews are likely from the same people who have seen me wear my BEETLEJUICE themed planchet as a big chunky necklace and told me I was the devil... Like, Ma'am, if I had the christian devil's guile, I would not be shopping at TJMaxx and the thrift store...😅

I'm a pagan (animist and spiritualism, specifically) who was raised Christian but I turned hard because I'm gay and Christian bigotry is the worst. I'm not a spirit board sort of person, but I am so glad that people are finding the humor in this, even if there are quite a few vocal ones who don't see it.

I'm going to market the Darwin Talking Board. Use it to talk to old fossils!

I am an avowed, card-carrying atheist and veteran stand-up comic. Still, I need this in my life.

Such a beautiful babe 😍 💕

This is too funny. The hypocrisy in Christianity is laughable. That is what chased me out of the church at a young age

I don't identify as a Christian because while I believe in God and Jesus, I don't accept what the church has become, and I accept all human faiths as having some truth to them. (and I've spent decades studying world religions) so that's where I'm coming from here. I think that things like this are mocking a very specific type of Christian, not the entire faith and that's why it doesn't offend me. I wrote a piece about why it is that some folks who dabble in the occult get trouble; it's not because there are actual supernatural forces ready to pounce on wavering Christians, it's because these kinds of things can only tap into their subconscious and create mental and emotional instability based upon the motive behind the dabbling. Similar to how back in the 60s there was a correlation between adolescent smoking and teen pregnancy, but cigarettes are definitely not an aphrodisiac. The causal portion was the teenaged rebelliousness and seeking of trouble being engaged in specifically to piss off authority figures and act out. In a spiritual setting a similar kind of recklessness and ignorance of consequences combined with the real power of the human unconscious (the reason why placebos have affects) and you get a potent way for people to break their own minds.

I appreciate you saying "I would not bring that bad juju into my home!" while a grasping skeletal octopus glares at you. 😁Also, what's the story with the baby head in the bottle? Genuinely curious.

But yeah, as an ex-Christian "spiritual-but-not-religious" type who's now mostly looking in from the outside, it seems like Christian products have moved beyond satire. I genuinely don't know anymore what's sincere and what's cynical. I'd say odds are this is cynical but at the same time, if you told me it was cooked up by some Missouri homeschooler who honestly thinks it's a good idea, I wouldn't doubt it.

Quija boards lead people to freak themselves out. There doesn't need to be a malevolent power once their imaginations get going.
