My thoughts: This is a very good formation, the "French", as it's called, and better to use attack from the center. In this case, your SS should be a hole player, so as to exploit every empty space, either to the sides or in the center, and not stick to the side, like a prolific winger. But it is possible to play from the wings, especially if your CMFs have good passes and you have attacking fullbacks. Its flaws, apart from what you said, is that it doesn't cover the full space of the field, as it leaves unmarked the opposing fullbacks, who can play on the line and often overlap. On the other side, it's very useful when defending against the Italian (3-5-2) and gameplay from the center, as the DMF can act like a libero or anchorman in the middle, covering the vital area just in front of the box.

There is better formation (4-3-2-1) where Neymar(91) is AMF and Draxler/Di Maria(both 84) AMF, and other is same. So better for one point (cause Neymar is here 91 not 90)

Sorry to say that Spoony, it's a bad formation. If the opponent has two good CFs, LWF and RWF then you are DONE.

Spoony could you attempt Sheffield United and their overlapping CBs?? My first thought is to use a fluid formation and then change 2 CBs to LB & RB when in possession with Attacking Fullbacks on. Would be interested to see what you can do mate.

Thanks Spoony! Question for you: this is actually the exact formation I use for MU in my ML (I don't play online at all). This formation has always worked better for me than wider formations. I guess it's just my playing style as I can barely generate shots with wide formations but get 8-15 per game with this formation. Where do you suggest playing traditional wide players in this formation? Dan James is a good example of a traditional wing player. If I want to get a player like that in my line up, are the best served as the AMF, CMF, SS, or none of the above?
