THE BIGGEST SUNSET BEACH OF 2024 w John John Florence

As the morning kicked off %80 of the island packed into Ehukai Beach Park to witness the 2024 Da Hui Backdoor shootout out but as the Larger, then originally forecasted NW swell filled it. Word got our Sunset Beach was heading into overdrive. For the many who made it out........... well, this video is proof. Another fun filled morning brought to you by yours truly.

A lot of great bold surfers, but John does things no one else is even attempting, and his moves are almost miraculous .

Have always loved watching big Sunset surfing, way back to the contests from the 60's. The break has so many different temperaments, same as Haleiwa, my 2 favorite breaks to watch because of the variety of looks each wave presents to a surfer. Wish the vloggers would put up more to these 2 breaks.

Seeing John John tear this up, I'm reminded of watching the 'all-Hawaiian' final of the Rip Curl Cup in 2001/2 - Andy, Sunny, Kaipo, & Myles surfing it like it was 6'. Backyards was huge and you could the waves towering over the sailboarders' masts - a few minutes later sets like these big ones would come rolling in. Great video.
