You’ve written aqa in the title, does that mean that this is not needed for the ocr Mei spec?

Hi Jack - I'm a bit unsure on where you're using matrices and determinants here? Is the first example for #4 a matrix or a determinant, as you used straight brackets? If it's a matrix we could pull out 1/2 as a factor from all elements right? Without 1/2 being cubed?

Whereas I'm assuming for part #2 that it's a matrix - but straight brackets are used so it looks like a determinant? Or am I missing something?

My textbook implies some of the rules are for matrices, rather than the determinant so I'm really struggling to get my head around it.

In the example where you had a 3x3 matrix and so it was 2^3 - if it was a 3x4 matrix, would it be 2^3 or 2^4? I guess I'm asking is the value of the power decided by the number of rows or columns?
