For a redstone perspective this is very interesting.
The mob only moves if you don't look at it. So we can have a look/don't look detection, at least only at night (or maybe if it's darkness based and not time based).

Also with it having two separate parts the heart and the creaking. We don't know if the heart is a tile entity (Chest/furnace, etc) or an actual block. Based on 2:03 it looks like it acts like an item frame affecting a block, which item frames are tile entities. But if it's only affecting the specific creaking log, then it could be a right-click oriented NBT tag. "IsHeart = True" type thing.
If you take the creaking through a nether portal and take it to another part of the world, let the heart unload. Would it die, if not, would it still be "attached" and create particles to it? If so it'd basically be a way to wirelessly load chunks.

Have five hearts with observers, have a dispenser shoot an arrow at the creek, or a snowball whatever. And regardless of distance, it'd send a block update....

I love the creaking, but I feel like it should spawn in the day time too because we already have so many monsters that only spawn at night. It would be cool if we had a scary mob that you can find in the day. I also think that the leaves on the new tree should stay gray even if they are in a different biome because we have so many green leaves already. They should always be gray no matter what biome. And I think it would be cool if the creaking would try to protect you if you are the one who spawns it. Like a life debt for creating it, it can be your body guard at night. I also think it should give a new effects when looking at it. The affects could make your screen start moving. Like the creaking is making your mind turn away from it. W update though, super cool.

If the creaking is the only mob that can spawn on the pale garden, this could be another way to have a mob-proof base on the surface if you destroy all the hearts
