How To Check If Your Youtube Comments Were Deleted Or If Youtube Shadow-Banned You

In this short video I will tell you how to know if a Youtube channel owner has deleted your comments or "shadowbanned" the comments you leave on their Youtube videos and how to test to see if you are shadowbanned. Either Shadow-banned by Youtube or shadowbanned by the channel owner. Technically a Youtube creator cannot delete comments, they can only hide a comment - basically shadow-banning the comment so that only the person that wrote the comment can see it, but it is very easy to check and see if your comment was deleted or shadowbanned from a youtube video.

The state of YouTube is horrendous. Roughly 40% of my comments get deleted no matter the content (by YT themselves, by the way), while on the other hand I see plenty of bots saying the worst stuff ever, and every time I decide to write something I seem to get at least one person upset, calls me their entire dictionary of curse words, and when I want to explain my comment using not a single bad word it still gets yeeted to nonexistency, while all these bots, ragebait and heavily insulting comments may live. YT needs a good sue against them, this is unbearable and inhumane.

Its not just the channel owner, YouTube itself has an enormous list of words and phrases that will instantly send your comment into 'shadow-land' without any input from the channel owner at all. Welcome to real-life 1984.

We seem to live in the golden age of hypersensitive wimps.

The problem is that removed/shadow banned comments are often not stupid - assuming every removed comment is, may be. Especially on political topics removing critical positions is undemocatic, but common procedure.

The problem with shadow banning or deleting comments is that it places the individual commenter at the mercy of the individual channel owner who may have removed/hidden perfectly legitimate comments for the WRONG reasons. I'll give you an example. Sometimes a channel owner is clearly mistaken in their stance on a specific issue, but when called out with factual information, instead of putting their hands up and saying fair enough, I got that wrong, and being an adult about it, their ego gets involved, they throw a hissy fit, and they censor someone who has made them look bad out of sheer spite. It does happen, so it's important to see both sides. Sometimes the problem is the channel owner whose ego trip must trump others right to express an opposing point of view.

I've noticed this quite often on YouTube. Many times they actually won't allow the comment to upload whatsoever.

It's not only the youtubers, but also the algorithm. When i comment on political topics, more than half of my comments get shadowbanned immediately - and these are respectful comments. Checking in a private window all the time is quite annoying - the intended effect i guess. Removing troublesome words or adding '___' in them can help. This entire practice is antidemocratic ofc.

I believe YouTubers should embrace freedom of speech by not disabling or deleting comments they don't like—they should either rebut them or ignore them.

It's not the channel owners that do the most censorship of comments. Most of my comments/replies on any channel are ghosted despite being relevant to the video and not against any website rules and despite not being spam. When I say most, I do mean most, on average about 80%. The whole comment system is broken and it seems it will never be fixed. The comments removed by channel owners is maybe 10% of what gets removed from the looks of it.

The most stupid person is those who can't give good arguments but calling other people idiots and deleting their points for disagreeing with you.

Censorship is NEVER a good thing regardless of how stupid. You shouldn't be deleting viewers comments, unless they're inciting direct violence. If their comments are THAT stupid, everyone would know. So leave em up. We all need a good laugh.

I miss the old YouTube where you could say whatever you wanted to no censorship at all lets get back to that

Calling it “Stupid” means making sure only one-sided views will be allowed. And they force you to accept their views, or else. You can't offend certain groups or religions, but you are certainly welcome to do that to those they don't care about.

A few times I have been blocked for alleged hate speech. They never tell you what you said so it's useless.
Once while blocked for 24 hours I fed back the same complaint 100 times, no response, no humans at work.

Some of my comments that are not offensive at all, get shadow banned. There was nothing wrong with the comment. I think it's just Youtube that doesn't like some type of words.

Title is misleading, it doesn't explain why YOUTUBE shadow-bans someone - it just explains why the video owner removes a comment.

It’s like sticking your fingers in your ears when someone is talking so you can’t hear their point of view

Anyone who thinks that everyone else is stupid is ironically the stupid one.

I lost count of how many comments are being shadow-banned. It happens on every video that has anything to do with current events, politics, world news and the like.

It's a lot easier to check than that. You can just refresh the page, and yourr comments will all disappear. Send an emoji into chat, and then refresh the channel. If the emoji is not there you are being shadow banned. or black holed. I believe Youtube can also do this, and I believe this is what I am dealing with right now. I've tried everything I can think of on multiple channels to have my comments seen. I can see them, but they aren't really broadcast, and they disappear on refresh, or with a different account. As a person who is involved in Politics, I assume that this treatment is intended to reduce my influence without actually banning me, because I am not doing anything to be banned for. Just sharing videos, and chatting with friends.
