THE MINIMALISM GAME | DECLUTTERING OVER 400 ITEMS FROM OUR HOME!

In today's video I share with you the process of doing the minimalism game in the month of February and decluttering over 400 items from our home! The minimalism game is a great way to get rid of a large number of items from your home in a short time. You get rid of one item on day one, two items on day two, three items on day three, and so on. I chose to do this in a short month because I was concerned I wouldn't have enough to get rid of. But, to my surprise, I made it through the whole month and got rid of over 400 items!

My name is Joy. I’m a mom of three older kids - my oldest just graduated from college, my middle is in college, and my youngest is in high school. I have been a SAHM since my oldest was a year old, only having a couple different part time jobs over the years once all my kids were in school. I have decluttered a lot over the years but have never tried doing this game. I love watching what other people declutter. It gives me ideas about areas in my house that I might need to go through. I wouldn’t think it is cheating to use trash items or to count same or similar individual items individually as opposed to 1 item. Either way you are clearing your home of stuff you don’t want or need anymore.

I’m sorry about the loss of your dog.😢. Animals shelter are often very happy to take donations of foods, bowls, towels, blankets, toys, etc. When we lost our cat 5 years ago I donated quite a few items. We then rescued two cats from the same shelter. Anytime I have old towels or blankets I donate them to the same shelter. They’re always very appreciative.

Wow, you did a great job! I'm so nosy😁 I love to see what other people throw out or donate, but mainly it's to get inspiration for areas in my own house I know I've forgotten..
I'm sorry about the loss of your beloved fur baby, we lost our lab-pit mix in February (he had cancer). It's so hard to say goodbye! But we buried him with his collar, and I've washed his harness to give to the local no-kill shelter. It's pretty close to brand new, he was lazy (or we were, lol). He would've rather been inside the a/c than out in the heat! He was an inside dog, for sure.

I played this game in January and am playing it again this month (March). I have a lot to go through so will probably be playing it several more times throughout the year. I have also joined the Buy Nothing group in my area. It has proven to be very helpful. Where I live in Canada right now our donation centres and thrift shops have been closed so I have been posting on the Buy Nothing group. Some people were setting up homes so I’ve told them as I declutter if I find home decor or household items I will let them know directly as they are quite likely to need them. It makes me feel good to help others and also helps me with my decluttering.😊💖

Hey girl! Here listening while I work. I am OBSESSED with this! I could and should totally do this but I don't think I could physically say bye to that many things. Maybe half of the month. Lol. I LOVE that you are showing us day by day, what you are letting go of. I could def get rid of old bathroom items. I could say bye to old pans (like you mentioned it was about $2 so no need to worry about saying bye), I couldn't get rid of storage bins. 🙃 I always need more. I would def be struggling to record everyday girl. You are a trooper! Can't wait to see the final outcome.

I came over from Jamie’s journey. Also it is funny that I also kept the leather straps from the hearth and hand measuring cups and spoons. I don’t know what to do with them either but I had trouble just throwing them away. Lastly I also have those White Houses but I still use them.
