I don't want that animated and face tuned feel.. I just want crisp sharp 4k sharpened video with original features

Wow, thank you for taking the time to do this wonderful video. I think you were the 1st video on YouTube to drop about tbis new version after Topaz drop their Topaz Video AI 4 trailer. I really enjoyed it and most likely i will see this video a 2nd time. Most likely i will get this new version when their Black Friday deal comes around next month, i could see they already have their black friday page but is not live yet. Anyways thamk you again, i really appreciate it....❤🎉❤🎉❤

I've found that cleaning up the original video with Nyx and then doing the upscale with Iris (tweaking different settings depending on the source video) works phenomenal for animation. I have the 1980s Silverhawks series that I'm fully restoring (cleaning up audio, upscaling to 1080p, then color correcting scene by scene in Premiere) and the results I'm getting are far better than most official studio-released HD remasters I've seen from animated shows and movies.

I have yet to get the results I want with live action, but I think that's just a matter of needing to play around more myself and learn some different tweaks.

Would be nice to use non-cinematically filmed footage. The real challenge is in using it in older videos...Thanks for posting.

You gotta do this with older stuff man. Like 1960s film footage or something, not modern movies which are already high quality.

I use Ae Detail Preserving Upscale to double the res, then Topaz. Generating more pixels from Ae gives Tpoaz a jump start.

i would recommend to anyone to buy it if upscaling is a constant thing u need to do, if its on sale then even more reason to get it, for what it does its worth every penny, countless times ive been saved by this software

original square pixel is the fixed Display Aspect Ratio or SAR, while Original Pixel Type is the actually square pixel, the names should be inverted lol

I keep the 2.6 version as well- because they are completely different programs. From 3.0 on- it is FFMPEG based program. 2.0 was not. In fact the earlier version up to 2.6.4 is called Topaz Video Enhance AI, while the new program from 3.0 on is called Topaz Video AI. so, in essence and name, they are two different programs with two different engines.

That was a really detailed review. I think what works best really depends on what type of video you process. I have walked through all the models and settings on some rather old(ish) home video (shot with a point and shoot digital camera from 2005-2007 era) in 640x480 (VGA) and carefully analyzed the previews just like you did in the video and without any doubt found that Nyx was doing the best job for my source video.

Thanks for the info. I’m not convinced that this software is worth the upgrade.

I'm a big fan of the IRIS model, I think it's better than GAIA in most cases. I ripped a 576p PAL video, deinterlaced and then upscaled to HD with IRIS and it looks like a soft bluray. It's REALLY good.

Good video. This comment isn’t anything upscaling related but rather frame interpolation.

IMO, I leave it off for most media/content that’s owned by popular movie brands. I only leave it on as a choice for unofficial media/content that wasn’t owned by movie studios yet. It’s really personal preference. People can experiment on this and see which one they prefer over the original. There’s a list of video frame rates listed here that I prefer enhancing to:

10fps —> 60fps (x6)

15fps —> 60fps (x4)

24fps —> 48fps (x2; same as 50fps but with 2 frames removed)

25fps —> 50fps (x2; similar to 60fps but with slight jitteriness)

30fps —> 60fps (x2)

50fps and 60fps were left alone since they’re already recorded in those frame rates. I only enhance 24fps and 25fps 2 times so that I don’t lose any original frames when going over that. I like to have the new frames Ai creates in between its original frames. I don’t have this software but I have Flowframes which can only enhance frame rates but doesn’t do any upscaling.

I pre-ordered the software and installed it the day after release. I'm not massively impressed, but I'm not an expert in its use so I'm sure tuorials will

Nyx will reduce quality of low quality video, it’s best for blue ray to 4k etc. iris for face/skin 1080p ish . Your not showing the manual mode where the power is. One thing I’ve found thru experimenting that you should try, select your enhance model, iris, set to manual, click estimate (I set left secret to original "always". Go ahead and set all adjustments to "0" not all adjustments are far left for 0. Now preview, notice 0 has still added effect tho set all to 0 note I still set improve detail global option to 0. I have been lately using a preset 0 and using it when auto or manual + estimate w/ slight tweaks isn’t getting it done.

Topaz is an excellent product if you have 10 days to spare to enhance a 2 hour movie
