It really went from handing out powerful painkillers like candy to "oh you're in pain? Too bad, junky."

"your insurance doesn't cover it"
Translation: that $1k+ you put in your plan every month is never gonna be used to help you. It's being used to line the pockets of someone who doesn't deserve it.

My wife was treated as a drug seeker while she was pregnant. She seemed to be in excruciating pain, and no one seemed to care. I actually overheard a nurse at the nurse station saying "shes been here before, she just wants drugs". I kinda blew up on them and by the end of the night we found out she had gall stones and a massive kindney stone all at once.

I have had five back surgeries and chronic pain. After a few times going to ER telling them something was wrong I was labled as a " drug seeker" I insisted until I found a doctor who listened. Turns out I had a " nonfusion. Basically thats a broken back. I suffered years needlessly. I also ended up with a bleeding ulcer from the NSAIDs I was told to take. 2 weeks in the hospital. Skit is spot on!

Gallbladder was failing. Was turned away as a drug seeker in pain I’ve never felt before. Went to a separate network of hospitals and was tested, diagnosed and set for surgery in 1 hour. Now I can’t go to the network by me because they labeled me a drug seeker yet I needed my gallbladder taken out immediately.

The word “funny” is too small for this. This is a brilliant and accurate representation of what happens in medicine. Rather than laugh, I just shook my head.

Nice to see a doc who understands why people who suffer from chronic pain hate doctors. You’re out here giving people hope sir, well done.

Finally a medical professional who understands all 3 aspects of our current medical system (prescribers, pharmacy and insurance)

As a physical therapist I can say with confidence that this is only the beginning of the story

The doctors write you off as a drug seeker, anxiety, etc. that’s why people hobble round in agony or turn to alternative vendors.

This might be the smoothest loop I have seen.

Also love a doctor showing how broken the medical industry is.

The American Health care system is absolutely 100% no doubt broken. All that money goes straight to the insurance companies and their cohorts.

That sounds about right. Anytime you suggest a medication that worked for you before, you get labeled as "drug seeker" and they X that med off your list. Never mind that you have issues with other meds. This skit is spot on. I see this happen all the time as a pharmacy technician.

As someone with debilitating chronic pain who is waiting for some surgeries but also have things that cant be fixed I feel like this is the story of my life. Im not a drug seeker, not in search for any type of "high"...I just want to he able to get out of bed or cook dinner for my family without crying or fainting from pain. The struggle is so real.

I've had pancreatitis a few times, which is insanely painful. Every single time I was hospitalized, they treated me like I was drug seeking, even in the hospital bed. Id have to ask for my meds every six hours and theyd always postpone it, convinced i was just faking it.

I actually had a blood tech see me crying from the pain and say to the nurse she was with "we'll wait until shes finished up her performance."

I also had a nurse tell me my pain wasnt enough and made some weird comment about child birth only being a 5 on the pain scale.

The lengths they'll go to in order to invalidate you and treat you like an addict are insane. It doesnt matter what you're in for.

The pain causes people to get labeled as drug seekers when they just desperately need to get through the pain they're legitimately in. So then they try everything, which causes more issues, which causes them to get some pain pills off a friend, and then they're trying harder and harder pain killers until they have an addiction to heroin.

My boyfriend got what he surgeon called “one of the most painful surgeries you can get” and he got 5 days of opioids. Then it was hell the next 7 days. They wouldn’t give more and he was in agony. He didn’t need them forever but those 7 days were the worst experience. He said he will never get the operation again even if he needs it due to the trauma.

This video’s a perfect representation of why American’s are struggling with the opioid epidemic. This needs to be spread even if it was made to be a satirical video, it’s the sad truth of how a lot of fentanyl/heroin users end up where they’re at today.

This is so spot on. As a person who has had to have many, maaany surgeries, this is exactly what happens. A few years ago they were much more helpful and lax. They really do profile you. If you come or in the least bit off putting to them they will literally ruin you. If you hit the right note and they really take a liking to you, they will be more likely to actually help you. I can’t tell you how bad it is to suffer with no pain med with surgery pain. It’s torture. Something has to change…
