For question 7 ii why did you chose that double angle formula and not square both side? I understand this gets you extra solutions that don't work but I am a bit confused as to why it does?

hi, i really struggle with questions like 10 - creating equations based on models. how can i practice and improve on this? i watch explanations for questions in past papers and i can follow but i can never make one myself. i just have no idea how to incorporate the different variables in a way that can logically give the answer. any help at all would be so appreciated <3
