I've spent hundreds of hours in MRI machines, and while the technology has progressed greatly and most scans take a fraction of the time as they used to.... I would still prefer to be stabbed by a flying scalpel than have an artifact in the imaging requiring another round.

problem: metal scalpels get yeeted through the air when MRI is turned on
solution: use ceramic scalpels
problem: ceramic doesn't set off metal detectors
solution: put metal inside the ceramic
problem: you now have a scalpel that is both twice as expensive and still has metal in it

I'm a huge fan of deadly flying scalpels.

This is why some surgens use titanium scalpels as they are sharper but don't last as long and are much safer if they chip into the body

I work for a hospital system in a non clinical role, and I had to do my annual safety recertification. They always include a section about MRIs and no joke, EVERY section concluded with “the magnet is always on”. There were even 3 flip cards that were blank until you flipped them….they all said “the magnet is always on” 😂

Just never occurred to me that a X-Ray Scanner gate would prevent and point out any patient with steel or metal screws or rods before he/she walkthrough up-to an MRI unit.

Nice to see Swan Morton scalpel form Hillsborough Sheffield uk. Best in the business.
Connor-Pilling
Flint blades, you can make them yourself, and they wont set off metal detectors. Make a resin handel and your good to go
nifty
Magnetic propelled scalpel. Always look at the positive

The idea of re using a scalpel upsets me but I get it, obviously they can be sanitized but still

I love scalpels, a bit more and I would have obsession

Does this mean that ceramic plates also have small amounts of metal in order to set off alarms?
