Ecosystems is the way things live together in a particular space. Every plant and every other living thing evolved to have a place in a community. Fenestration is shedding light on a community situation. ❤

I live in zone 7B and have a Scentara Pura lilac, and yes, it blooms beautifully!! I grew up in PA and was so thrilled to stumble upon this plant in March 2022. The fragrance took me right back to happy memories in my childhood. 💜 I got two huge panicles in late March while still in the PW gal pot, and it is now planted and covered in buds ready to bloom in the next 6 weeks. I can hardly wait! 🤩

Yes I agree-- Basil planted with tomatoes does give the tomatoes better flavor, and keeps the hornworms away!! Great show today. 👍🏾

I LOVE the fragrance of paper whites. Also gardenia, lilacs, lily of the valley, and fragrant roses.

Do the new lilacs have a longer bloom time? I love the lilac flowers, but they pass so quickly!! 🙃🪴🪻🌿

Hello😊 A few years ago I bought paper whites. I kept hearing about people not liking the fragrance while others simply adore it. I asked the cashier about it she said she couldn’t describe it. I grew it in my bathroom as it has a lot of light and I figured good humidity in there. And after they bloomed, I thought the bathroom is the perfect place for these flowers. They smelled like urine to me!!!! So needless to say a paperwhite will never purchase any again. Unless someone creates a non-fragrant paperwhite.

Gardening Simplified Housecalls would be great for when I inevitably have a plant or two on life support 😊.

I know you’ve talked about hydrangeas before but could you possibly squeeze in some growing info on Pee Gee hydrangeas. I just purchased a couple. I”m a bit anxious as no others have survived my clay yard (North Texas). I really want them in ground. Thank you for this program.

I live in west Michigan zone 5/6. I have trouble with my coral berry. Every year it leads out and then looses all its leaves little by little until it just looks spindly and dead. It comes back the next year and repeats. I had in full sun but read on one site it was an under story plant so I moved it. Same problem. Any help? One thing I thought possibly it needed much more water? Thanks for any help you can give.

Buxus Falkner smells like cat pee. Just found this out yesterday. I recently purchased some, they were in my kitchen waiting to be taken outside and I thought a stray cat must have come inside and sprayed.

While I very much enjoy today’s hybrid flowering plants and shrubs, I mourn the loss of the fragrance that has occurred through the process. I don’t have a specific fragrance memory for any specific flower, but I remember the smell of springtime from my childhood and most flowers any more have no scent at all and it makes me sad.
