The second fundamental theorem of calculus states that “if a function f is continuous on an open interval containing a, then, for every x in the interval, the derivative of an integral of function f from a to x, where a is a constant, is f(x).” (taken from Mr. Farrar's/Ms. Nguyen's Calculus AB notes)
