I read how to win friends and influence people few years ago, I enjoyed it a lot, it's a great book but I didn't agree with most of the thing the author said because every individual is different and that book tactically avoids the things that goes against it's case. the basic idea that has been echoed through out the book is "you can change other's behavior towards you by changing your own towards them" but in reality that barely works because we have to consider the motivation. If we are divided by religion, philosophy, ideology, nationality and they are a governing factor in our life (which in most cases are) the behavior will not change. The other person might listen to you but he already has his stereotype and his biases which has been ingrained into him ever since he was born, those things just don't go away easily and they affect their decision making process which might hurt the very person who had been nice with them. that book don't say what to do when you come across an a$$hole.
he quotes and praises Abraham Lincoln a lot through out the book for his great people skills but despite those skills he was not able to convince the people of South to stop the war, his eloquence and his flexible tounge didn't save him from the bullet of John Wilkes Booth( I hope that's the name).

I know this is irrelevant, but I just wanted to tell you that I bought Radio Silence recently based on your teen recommendations and while reading it, I figured out that there was some LGBTQ+ plot in it. I loved the book, but I'm afraid my parents may find out about that and blame me for choosing a book that is not 'for my age'. All of your teen recommendations were actually great and enjoyable for teens, but I'm afraid my parents may not be okay with me knowing stuff they don't want me to know about... 😬 Anchal didi can you please tell me what I should do about that??
