The Irish Pub Trailer
Показать описание
The Irish Pub film is not my work, however as promoting Irish Pubs globally we feel that it is an amazing insight into Irish pubs of old and want to share with you.
The following is from the producers.
"The Irish Pub film consists of interviews with pub owners all over Ireland about what makes their pub special. This film is not about the recession. It is about passion. From the first pub I filmed, I was completely overwhelmed by the interest the Irish pub owner took in their pub and their respective history. This was not about business. It was much more than that. These pubs were cultural museums of artifacts, story and song and the owners were curators of their respective museums. Why does O'Shaughnessy's, Glin, have a confession box in the middle of the pub? Why is the Gravediggers pub, Glasnevin, so rich with ghost stories? Did you know that snugs in Dingle were used for matchmaking? How many countries have pubs like Ireland? In fact, how many countries have any institution, which, in the case of these pubs, have been in the same family for generations, and yet have not changed inside or out, and can be visited by anyone 363 days a year. The Irish pub is unique to Ireland. In a way, this film is an explanation why that is the case.
The Irish Pub film is also a look at Ireland and who we are as a people. The history of Ireland, the characters, the song, music, anecdotes, politics, sport, religion, famine and the sense of humour can all be viewed and reflected on through the institution of the Irish pub. These pubs reach out to not just to every Irish person today but to the Irish 50 years ago, 100 years ago and even as far back as 500 years ago and to the Irish abroad. The names over their door are iconic. The stuff hanging on their walls is historic. The stories these pub owners tell are priceless. "
