I feel just as much nostalgia for this song as I do the original Minecraft soundtrack.

Oh my god, I feel really nostalgic, but I don’t really know why. I never got this working as a kid, although I always wanted too. So I spent years watching people play it, wishing I could do it myself.

But now, after literally 8 years I have a fully working Beta 1.7.3 client running the original Aether mod v1.02 with the original sounds and music! I’ve never been more happy. I’ve literally completed a childhood dream; something I never thought I could ever do.

This always has been my favourite song from the Aether, and continues to be to this day. I remember the sheer feeling of happiness I felt as a kid when I first heard this on my crappy little iPod, and the even greater explosion of emotions I felt much more recently when after more than a hundred hours of searching and troubleshooting and researching and waiting, I finally heard this song coming from my client for the first time ever, and all my memories from 6 years earlier came flooding back. So glad I have this working now.

Every time I listen to this song, I remember the times I played Minecraft close to my dog, Tarma.
In 2020 he died. Whenever I hear this song, I cry with longing, but in gratitude for being part of my life.

Can't believe time has flown by so fast, I still remember playing this mod for the first time in my living room, the rest of my family were all swimming in an inflatable pool in our back yard, and this song came on as I was mining Gravitite ore for the first time. It's amazing how songs like this can bring you back to a time in your life in such a picturesque way that no smell or sight ever could. The aether mod, no matter how old or abandoned it gets, will always hold a special place in my heart as the greatest mod to ever happen to Minecraft.
