Polish language is hard to learn when you are japanese, but try to learn the other way around. It`s also very hard. I am still strugling with hiragana and katakana, but wait, there is the third... :D

Actually the ć ś ń ź make perfect sense - the common process here is palatalization o softening of these sounds. (Kind of like you're trying to add an 'i' after them) And "ziet" is just a name of the letter but it's pronounced the same as 'zi' :3

Ó is a bit different, because a long time ago we had a long lower "o" sound. Kind of like おう in Japanese. But then it got transformed into the same sound as u nowadays.

As for ą and ę these sounds are nasalised, so you pronounce them kind of closing off the flow of air from your nose. And kind of like you're trying to make a sound of a string being pulled :D

"ź" is "ziet" only when talking about the letter as it's the name of the letter (similarly to english "h" being "aitch"), but it's pronounced differently when being part of a word. :)

the pattern works with Ń, Ś, Ź and Ć - they're simply softened, works like a soft sign in Russian. the "Ó" might've been tricky, since it looks like softened "O", but it's a matter of time til you get used to it.

Actually the language is easy we only have some exceptions and exceptions of exceptions and exceptions of exceptions of exceptions. But I guarantee It's a beautiful language. Specially if you like to make words cute. You have huge palette of posibilities to make any word sound nice. For example if we call our lovely half (wife, girlfriend, partner) like she's our sweet cat we can say: kotku, koteczku, koteczko, kotuniu, kotusiu, kociaku, kociaczku, kociku, kocie; kotuś. Or if we like a teddy bears: misiu, misiaku, misiaczku, miśku, misiulu, misiulku, misiuniu, misiu-patysiu, misiu-pysiu; misiek, misia, misiuniuś. We have so many posibilities of calling anything in different way it's actually genius.
