Born and raised in Louisville.. Not having a real estate license I can say anything about the city as I no longer live there. I strongly urge anyone to avoid the west end. If you rent a car the map they give you stops showing anything west of 22d street.

I live in Old Louisville and its a beautiful area with old homes And a charming central park. We do have a transient issues but what city doesn't it's still nice and its affordable if you're renting.

We looked in three counties because the inventory was so low. We ended up in Middletown with a For Sale by Owner house and the realtor closed both sides. Love my secret neighborhood off Shelbyville Rd.. Living near Paul’s is priceless. 😆

4:28 you can take Dixie Hwy to the top of Michigan, not Maine. Just FYI.

Went to Armor school for the US Army many years ago. Really loved driving up to Lousiville on my days off. Good restuarants and the city was not too big and the people were great. I recall a Dixie Highway and was it also known as Hwy 31? Now that i am old I am thinking of a chepaer area to live but Nashville is getting way too expensive.

I live in Louisville. The west end is not a good area to live at. Within the last couple years 2 of my younger cousins got murdered in the west end. One of my uncles got robbed and murdered just walking to the store. Another one of my family members got car jacked at the Kroger's on broadway around 7am in the morning and the robber shot him in the head. One of my cousins use to be the manager at the pizza hut that use to be on broadway years ago. He got robbed at gun point trying to close the restaurant. Stay away from the west end. Only go there if you have too. It doesn't matter if you just mind you business. Things can still happen to you. The west end is also a terrible place to raise kids. A lot of the young kids down there carry guns. They don't fight anymore. Your kids would be in danger. The best areas to live is 25 to 35 mins away from downtown. Jtown, Middletown, Shelbyville, Mt Washington.

I live in Bardstown and commute to Louisville for work. Best of both worlds.

Before the urban renewal projects of the 1970s, Louisville's North End was north of Main Street, west of Downtown. The areas which are today Portland and Shawnee.

Thank you for that great video. I lived in Louisville for about a year because I’m a pilot for UPS but I really never got a chance to see most of these areas since I was usually flying out of the country. I am considering buying a quadplex investment property in Louisville to live in one of the units. I’m still trying to choose a safe and desirable area with a good rental market but your video was a good start.

Point at the entirety of Jefferson county. If you must life around this dangerous city, move to southern Indiana.

I stayed in a hotel off Crittenden in the University/Fairgrounds district. It didn’t feel very safe.

Interesting fact. 265 when being built in the 70s and 80s was planned and zoned out to be Six lanes but they made it 4 lanes. By the time they were done it was already outdated.

Do you give info about apartment rentals? Who can I contact to point me in the right direction? I am moving to Louisville for a Job in November 2024. I'd like to live neighborhood with shops and restaurants within walking distance. A gay friendly local bar would be nice. I don't need amenities like a pool or workout room. I just want off street parking. Based on these things, Is it realistic to want to pay less than $900/mo.?

You obviously don't know as much about the metro area as you think, shively, prp, valley station, not new areas, these areas are not rural, heavily populated from 60s/70s

I’ve lived in the Westend of Louisville all my life and have never had a problem.
