*_I had a black triangle and I was able to cure it, I had it for years because of receding gums, I have watched and read that gums don't grow back once it had receded. I believed it before but now I think it's wrong, because my black triangle is almost gone, it's like my gum is growing at the part where the black triangle is. I just brush with baking soda before toothpaste, I also gargle with a non-alcohol mouthwash 3x a day. If only I can post before and after photos here you would really see the difference._*

I have black triangles on my bottom teeth even though I have good oral hygiene. I am going to bring this up in my next ortho appointment!

I have this on my bottom. They filed down my teeth a tiny bit to make them a little less fan shaped, but I still have the black triangles. I’m okay with it tough. Since it’s on the bottom is not very visible.
My date is set in November to get my braces off, super excited!

Urgh! I wish I know your channel before I got my braces and should have do more research about braces! Wish I could turn back the clock! Experienced so much ups and downs, because I went to the wrong orthodontist! After noticing some weird things happening, I quickly go for another orthodontist. My new orthodontist fixed it. She did a good job.

Just got my braces off last 2weeks, luckily my teeth turned out good (Class 2).

I have these black triangles either side of my front teeth .. it’s a bit disappointing because I spent all this time getting my teeth straight for my smile not to be perfect in the end 😢

i get my braces off in a day but i noticed that but i think it’s just because how my teeth were shaped and the positions they used to be in caused it. my teeth were very crooked.

Braces doesn’t give you the perfect smile. It gives you a better smile than before.

Paid $6200 to straighten my teeth just to hate the end result because of this. Floss doesn't click between them..it goes right through it. I've always had good dental hygiene. I'm not spending another penny with my ortho. Invisalign, plus my 3 kids have braces. I'm paying a fortune!

this is exactly my issue now... I'm already 1 year and 4 months with my treatment... I have a really bad receding gums even before I started my braces that's why the first ortho that I went to before didn't do it because she was too afraid that after treatment, that I might not have enough gums to hold my teeth... with my ortho now, he's very confident that's why I went on with having a braces treatment and said that there's a way to heal my gums... but I don't think that it's really working... my teeth are quite aligned now but the triangle holes I have (yes, multiple triangle holes, both upper and lower teeth) aren't even small, they are huge... enough to be noticeable in a photo... the only solution that I'm thinking now is to really get veneers after my treatment...I'm not mad at my ortho though because my teeth looks way better now than before and also, I don't think that there's really any other way to fix it than veneers...

Doc, I am doing everything you said in regards to oral hygiene. I don’t know how to keep my teeth any cleaner even on braces! I’ve gotten congratulations from my general dentist for keeping my teeth so clean and I found 2 black triangles on my lower arch. I’m still in braces. I have elastics to close my bite. I don’t understand! Could you give me some advice? I see my orthodontist in 8 days

I mentioned a black triangle to my ortho a couple of weeks ago and he did IPR. Hopefully it'll correct itself soon.

Thanks for all the good information! I have a black triangle (sounds scarier with that name somehow!) that is improving as I progress through my orthodontic treatment. It appeared between two of my top teeth but has been shrinking now after a round of IPR and heavier wires. I actually don’t mind the way it looks and definitely prefer the space to the crowding I used to have!

Thank you so much! I'm a woman from Australia on the north side of 50 (smile). I am in the middle of orthodontic treatment and my orthodontist has talked about polishing, shaving my black triangles?? .... sorry, not quite sure of the wording he used, but he did mention my 'black triangles'. You explained it wonderfully and I now feel much better. I'm pretty happy with the treatment so far, however I do hope in the end some of the black triangles do "close" a bit :-)

I’m netherlands SO MANY ppl have these and I’ve been assuming bc interdental cleaning is BIG here, especially with wooden picks. Since i e started using interdental brushes (that feel at least a little bit less violent) I have definitely noticed points of the gum starting to slowly become less and less pointy

Thank you very much for this very informative video. Got my braces removed in February and I’ve noticed the spaces and thought my gaps were coming back even though I have built in retainers and did wear my clear retainers 90% of the time. I was starting to feel like I wasted my money on braces and I’ve already moved away from that state so I couldn’t go see the orthodontist that did my work. I do have good oral hygiene so until I can get in to see my dentist to talk about my options I’ll floss less at those areas with my feed through floss and use my waterpik more.
