I’d like to see the article/research behind this claim. Not trying to be argumentative. Just truly curious.

Yes and no shot at equity! Make someone else equity! Brilliant! I am on my second house first house bought for 129, 000 sold 279, 000. My second house I paid 152, 000 now worth 750, 000! Cheaper short term but long term renting makes someone else rich!

Depends where you rent. Some of these landlords are charging quadruple

PBD can be a little out of touch with reality sometimes.

Same here. Sometimes I feel like this man is becoming disconnected from the reality most Americans live in. Got a lot of love for you, but it’s ok to admit you don’t have all the answer.

Keep in mind he’s talking about Florida southern Florida which has the highest property taxes next to California and homeowners insurance because of the hurricane situation. In Florida you can end up paying $1500 a month just in property taxes and insurance which essentially doubled your mortgage. But here in Tennessee I pay $200 a month for property taxes in a 450 k house so it depends where you live folks

I feel this largely depends on the area. For instance in my Area rent is 1700 to 2300. Mortgages now are around the same. However three years ago it was different the mortgages were around 1500. So it made more sense. I personally own my home. So it's definitely cheaper than rent.

Definitely Because Illinois has taxes & Chicago has raised property taxes. Someone has to pay for loss of businesses and empty buildings.

I understand from the cash flow perspective, especially in the short term. When you don't have taxes, homeowners insurance, maintenance, and HOA fees makes sense. However, long term that might not be the case. Best thing is to use the time while renting to save up money, pay down debt, and improve your credit score. That way when you do buy a home you've put yourself in the best financial position possible. Just an FYI after recessions interest rates usually drop, so the time to prepare is now.

In Ireland my mortgage is 1000, it rents for 1900 p/m. Check your region before taking advice on the internet.

The opposite in Australia for first home buyers

That depends on the where you are renting. In California rent is more expensive than a mortgage other states.

Sorry but bullshit when u rent your paying for the property taxes, future upkeep, future repairs, insurance all the expenses that come with owing a home plus the owners gotta make a 20 to 30% profit on top of that so no I don't agree at all. Homes are expensive but guess what rent is going up even faster.

If that's true then the landlords with a loan on rental properties would be losing money every month. At least in my area you can get a much nicer place to own rather than rent for same monthly cost

It honestly makes no sense to me, where I’m from mortgage is about half of a monthly rent, as long as I’m living and want to live comfortably I HAVE TO PAY, so why tf would I keep paying for some shit that will never be mine, when I could pay less a month and actually have say so over the property, unless you’re going to be moving city to city state to state it would be stupid NOT to buy a house

Lol where the explanation. I mean I believe it. I live in cook “crooked” county illinois. Property taxes will never stop going up.
