Some time ago I accidentally stumbled upon Robert Johnson and I was amazed. Since that time I started reading, learning for him and the Blues and above all listening to them.

So... recently I created a Blog (which due to personal obligations isn't very good yet) and more recently this youtube channel on which I hope that I will post my blues music videos... Not something special but something which I started with lots of love about this music. Hope you 'll like them and enjoy!!!

my Blog in English:
and in Greek:

"In the Pines", also known as "Black Girl" and "Where Did You Sleep Last Night", is a traditional American folk song which dates back to at least the 1870s, and is believed to be Southern Appalachian in origin. Traditionally, it is most often associated with the American folk musician Lead Belly, who recorded several versions in the 1940s.
(Lyrics)

My girl, my girl, don't lie to me
Tell me where did you sleep last night
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don't ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, where will you go
I'm going where the cold wind blows
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don't ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through
Her husband, was a hard working man
Just about a mile from here
His head was found in a driving wheel
But his body never was found
My girl, my girl, don't lie to me
Tell me where did you sleep last night
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don't ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, where will you go
I'm going where the cold wind blows
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don't ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, don't lie to me
Tell me where did you sleep last night
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don't ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, where will you go
I'm going where the cold wind blows
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don't ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through

The fact that they don't actually know who wrote this song, just adds to this track's eeriness in my opinion.

This man is literally one of the foundations of Rock music and yet many people still don't even know about him.

I'm Russian, and I, personally, think that this is one of the greatest things America has ever conceived.

Lead belly is from the same area of Louisiana as I am. He was so good that he got off of death row twice by singing for the governor. Thank God for the Delta Blues. This was recorded for the archives for congress. Very very important to the history of music

This is one of the few songs that genuinely terrify me. The mystery, Lead Belly's haunting voice, ominous feeling of dread that looms over the song, it all adds up.

If I was hiking in the woods alone, and all the sudden heard this song in the distance on a scratchy speaker, I would be entirely convinced I was about to meet the devil himself. It gives off that death rattle vibe of a person being met with a fateful interaction, whatever that may be.

Back when Kobain sang this on MTV Unplugged, I went on a music deep dive to track the original down. NO internet then, so there I was in the library listening to this on an old timey vinyl. I feel it's the only real way to appreciate it fully.

why do people here have to bash on Kurt? Can't they keep the negativity to themselves? All he did was cover this song, and if it wasn't for him a lot of you guys wouldn't even know about it.

My great grandpa used to sing this song all the time before he had a stroke and I still remember every word

Kurt Cobain brought me here.

Lead Belly made me shed a tear.

Both men are universally united in time, space, history and the great beyond.

R.I.P Mr. Lead Belly.
R.I.P Mr. Kurt Cobain.

ALL. IS. LOVE.

The first person to play this song has never been identified, and the year it was written is rumored to be 1925. There are countless versions and covers, so everyone can just calm down.

Leadbelly is buried 8 miles from my house. His music has influenced so many bands and genres of music, and I'm better off for it.

i know no one cares, but the way i found this was because a long time ago someone gave me a homemade cd that was supposed to be all woody guthrie songs, but this was on it, credited to woody guthrie and titled 'luis molene'. for years i couldn't find it because casual searching would bring up SO many different versions of the song since its an old folk song, but i'm here now!
