The idea of heracles being scared, let alone enough to run away and hide from someone, really just shows how much of a gigachad typhon was.

Typhon, Echidna and Tiamat should have a barbeque get-together, and discuss what being the parents of dragons, snakes and other monsters are like.

My favourite design of Typhon is from the ‘Olympians’ comics - he’s literally a giant tornado with loads of animal heads sticking out of him.

I always remember reading a version of this myth that when Typhon rose to destroy Olympus and the gods, Selene rode her moon chariot into battle against the storm giant. Having been an explanation the craters of the moon, were scars from said battle against Typhon. She was a diversion for Zeus being fixed up by Pan and Hermes from my understanding.

Typhon is also the one of the few children of Gaia that has a faithful relationship with his Snake Monster wife

As an Italian I can confirm that we do keep monsters under volcanoes

I love the implication that the Egyptian gods are the Greek gods' fursonas.

I once heard a version that while Zeus was pinned down with his muscle fibers ripped out and Pan and Hermes were putting him back together Ares tagged in and fought Typhon to buy the other gods time, and ive only heard that second hand do it definitely isn't academically sound but it's still a concept that goes very hard and finally has Ares use his infinite heart of violence to help everyone else out for once

I like how you talk about the multiple sources

6:36 gets really funny for me when you remember folks like to constantly compare Typhon to Godzilla. In the 1998 film Godzilla (now rebranded by Toho as Zilla), was lured in by the military with pounds of fish as bait to ultimately surprise attack him.

Typhon is one of my favorite stories to the point where I can't wait to see it adapted into Lore Olympus

Gaia: why did you imprison my kids!

Olympians: in do part because they imprisoned your other kids

Gaia: Excuses!

The version I heard says that the heat from Mt. Etna powers Hephaestus’s forge. Also, this is my favorite story from Greek mythology because it shows the otherwise flawless Zeus in a moment of weakness.

Ive also heard another version of echidnas death thats says hera got so angry at her because she would kill travelers coming by her path (i like to imagine she got angry because echidna basically provided heracles with free monsters to kill) and sent her servant arges (the one hundred eye giant) to decaptitate her. And he succeded.

I love how by his standards, being turned into a cyborg just means getting a circuit board taped to his eye.

As a Greek this is a good way to teach people real Greek mythology.

I keep loving that I never know how you're going to end these videos.

In another video about this myth by SarcasticProductions I commented on a version of the myth which says that Ares assisted Hermes in rescuing Zeus.
Ares was fighting Typhon so he can buy some time for Hermes to steal Zeus' tendons and free him.
After Typhon's defeat, Zeus decided to award Ares with more important role as "god protector" instead of just a war God.
This version of the myth is probably a way for the Greeks to explain why the Roman Mars was so important to them unlike Ares to Greeks.
