Another hack is to heat up the nail weight with a lighter, hold it with your pliers. It will melt the worm as it goes in, but as it cools it forms around it. The weight won’t slide up/out of the worm.

I just use a uni knot and have the hook point going towards the tail. Haven't had a hang-up and haven't missed a fish. Caught bowfins on a #2 vmc Neko hook.

The line now will hang up on the way down inside of up, use Palomar knot and don’t have a problem either way

If you put the hook in correctly you don't need the weed guard. Hook point towards the tail equals roof of the mouth 99% of the time and shank will act as your weed guard... But go ahead and keep rigging it the way you do and I'll take your money to the bank on tournament day
