OMIGosh, the thing she said about the treatment of black mothers towards their daughters, one day I was talking to my mom casually and having a good time, and out of the blue she says "I'm wasting my potential" which is a bold statement considering what I endure to avoid just that and considerable hurtful with constant high expectations I have for myself. She then basically said she held my brother to a "different standard". But why does she push me more. I always excused it saying, she just believes in me more, but putting more pressure on people doesn't exactly help them achieve anything. And in my life, if I didn't do exactly what she said, sorry if I change the class because I need to or change schools because I wasn't learning, and she didn't like that I deviated, she'd always be so aggressively disappointed. She projects what she wanted as a child so heavily on me, and asks as if my career is hers. She doesn't do any of this with my brother. I've never been allowed to share my dreams about what I want to be when I grow up. Ever. But my brother has. I always had to grow to be what my mother wanted. And honestly I'm not sure if I if that's what I want. But I never got that choice. I always thought that's just how my mother was, i've come to realize that somehow me being her daughter, her female child, has caused her to emotionally project such on me. I've always told her how she treats us differently, but she always disregards it. This showed me that it's not all in my head, and maybe some internal self loathing or regret has caused her to act this way towards me. I mean, those were just a couple of examples that I got treated different. I feel like I can never match these standards, and I always disappoint myself because of it.

The way that some people reacted to the affair was kind of alarming. Even if people are in the public their marriages are kind of not your business. And people are all kind of immature about it. They reacted inappropriately to someone else's marriage problems. It enabled a predisposed lack of empathy and it was frightening to see that I was already inside of people.
