A weekend honing your writing skills, running in the beautiful grounds of the Dartington Estate and exploring the connection between writing and running.

Authors such as Haruki Murakami have long talked about the intricate and special relationship between running and writing. On this course we look at how running can help with creativity, discipline and motivation. We will consider writing skills such as narrative drive, tense and editing, and we will look at writing about running, and discuss running as narrative itself.

Practical advice and insight is also given into how to get articles and books published, and how to go about self-publishing in various forms, from newsletters to books.

We will also look at running as a form of collaborative narrative between the human and more-than-human worlds and engaging in dialogue with the topography and ecology of the land itself. One morning session will be framed by a consideration of running as philosophical engagement with place and will include self-paced mindful running practice, written reflection and discussion.

*Please note that participants need to be able to run a minimum of 5k, but that runs will be tailored to account for all paces.
