Southam Panel - Fake News

We celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Writing department’s Harvey Southam Guest Lectureship program and looked toward the next decade of this influential journalist-in-residence program with a moderated panel discussion. Six former Harvey Southam Guest Lecturers and one recent UVic graduate debated the past, present and future of journalism in Canada and around the world. Moderated by Writing chair David Leach, the panelists included Jody Paterson, Terry Glavin, JoAnn Roberts, Tom Hawthorn and Writing alumni Mark Leiren-Young, Vivian Smith and Quinn MacDonald. The evening included a memorial to former Southam Lecturer, the late Richard Wagamase.
