Andrew Ridgeley Reveals Why Wham! Split Up | This Morning

He was one half of the 80s most successful pop duo. But after Wham! split in 1986, Andrew Ridgeley shied away from the limelight, letting best friend George Michael take centre stage. Now, three years since George’s death, Andrew bares all in his new memoir ‘Wham! George & Me’. He’ll tell us why he wrote it, discuss the circumstances surrounding his former bandmate’s death, and reveal all about appearing in Emma Thompson’s new Christmas film.

What i love about Andrew is that he allowed GM to realise his full potential not letting his ego get in the way, many others might have been jealous or resentful of that situation when the band was intially a 50/50 project but Andrew always supported George no matter what, even if that meant taking a step back. He did recognize that GM was the better songwriter.

I loved George Solo, but Wham songs are hard to beat, they are timeless and ageless. People would still love to see you guys on stage no matter what age, Wham and whole band were best in world, songs were absolutely super and hard to beat. Last Christmas for example, there is no other song that can beat that one, no matter who the artist is. That is a top no 1 forever song of all time. ❤ George was at his happiest in Wham. ❤❤

George said he wouldn't have ended Wham! when he did but he was in a relationship that just ended and he was angry and feeling sh!tty, he was striking out in his anger. He would have held off a little longer before ending the group.
