Welcome to my shuffle dance tutorial for beginners! This basic shuffle / cutting shapes video consists of the charleston with a combo. I struggle a lot with balance and not leaning forward on this one. Something that helped me a ton was do it in a doorway or narrow hallway and put your hands on either side of the walls or frame to support yourself. Then focus only on the foot movements and slowly add in everything else. I struggled for half an hour to get anywhere before I did that, then made a ton of progress after only a few minutes of using a doorway.

Still the best tutorials for shuffle basics I can find. Everyone else is unstructured, takes too long, and works sequences too long to explain completely.

this is an amazing tutorial and explanation for beginners. for those who want a faster or more up-tempo rendition of this type of dance the next stage would be tech house music. it is also known as “cutting shapes”.

Charleston! I love the Charleston! Awesome connection between 1920s and 2020s. I sort of already know how to do this, but your tutorial is super-clear. Great choice of music. Such a fun genre, so many great bands. Would love to see you doing some freestyle to electro-swing, your dance pieces are a lot of fun to watch.
