Everyone is famous now, and if everyone is famous, no one is.

People want to be famous because it’s the easiest way to earn money. No education required. No age restrictions. All that is required is shamelessness. Fame brings brand deals and free products for you to endorse. You get paid to say you like a product on social media. The next step is creating your own merchandise to promote and sell. More money.

I am definitely checking this out. I was born in 1983, and feel so removed from this generation. It reminds me of the quote from the film "The Social Network." "We lived on farms, then the cities, now we will live on the internet."

"I wish I could make my instagram bio 'Please don't take this seriously'" - Here's the gag my friend: You can?

Hope they reveal at the end that the *documentary* is fake, everyone in the whole film are actors just looking to add something to their reel.

People like to be duped. Years ago, Instagram started with artists displaying their work. It was a gallery to show their talents. Now it’s full of wannabe narcissistic, wanting to be famous for nothing. Oh please. When will this trend end?. Like my space and so many others that came and went. It’s getting utterly ridiculous now.

I really hope this focuses on more of the issues with all of this. I teach high school and I am so sick of hearing "I want to be Instagram Famous". Then when I try to be supportive and ask how kids don't even know how to use the computer or camera or have an idea what they want to be famous for. 🤦‍♀️

Just watched this documentary. Dominique actually seems quite genuine and down-to-earth. But she's along for the ride and making the most of the situation because it's better than working in a clothes warehouse, doing inventory. Which is a smart way to approach the experience: make hay while the sun shines.

when I scrolled over the thumbnail, a short preview of the video showed Tana Mongeau and I thought to myself, what a perfect example of "fake famous"

If they wanna be influencers, they'd better have something worthwhile to _influence_ others...

So appreciate the gentleman speaking in the documentary producing, creating this documentary, exposing this fakery that's deceiving little children and so many.
