2020 BMW M8 Convertible Test Drive Review: Comfortable Savagery

#BMW reintroduced the 8 Series for 2019 and now an M version has arrived for 2020. This is the first time BMW has ever built an #M8 and it will be available in Coupe, #Convertible, and Gran Coupe body styles in both standard and #Competition guises.

The 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 shells out 600 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque while the Competition model bumps that first figure up to 617 hp. In the Convertible, 0-60 mph takes 3.2 seconds or 3.1 if you get the Competition package.

Pricing for the M8 Convertible starts at $142,500 while the Competition bumps the price up to $155,500. This is less expensive than a Mercedes S63 and the M8 feels slightly sportier (and less cushy) than its AMG rival.

I really appreciate the work you put in every one of your reviews! The M8 is definitely one of my highlights of 2019 and after experiencing the M850i, I cannot wait for the M8 to hit my country to have a go in it. As always, keep it up and awaiting more videos from you. Cheers!

An underrated review, those two loons from straight pipes could learn from this. Thank you.

That red color on the convertible is quite excellent.

but if BMW is being honest, this is a renamed M6/6 series. I mean, it shares a platform and engine with an M5/5-series, just like a 6-series did. if BMW wants a car coupè that competes with S-Class coupè, it must be on a 7 series coupè. that’s how I understand it.

they are setting up this mean machine up for failure. A 5 series can’t compete with an S-class. So, it’s the same thing here. No, BMW.
