Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (better known as ADS-B) is a new technology revolutionizing the way we fly. Unfortunately, much of the information related to ADS-B is unnecessarily confusing.

While ADS-B may be confusing, it’s probably the most important technological change you will experience as a pilot over the next two decades. So it’s worth the effort to learn this new language as the 2020 deadline for ADB-Out equipage looms.

Join Sporty’s John Zimmerman as he discusses what you really need to know about ADS-B “out” and ADS-B “in.” Learn about panel-mount ADS-B solutions available from Appareo, Aspen, Garmin, and others, plus the exciting developments in the portable market. We’ll cut through the jargon so you understand what’s important—and what’s not.

[19:47] I just suggested a few days ago on a different video that perhaps using upper and lower sideband *[USB LSB]* would be helpful in communications. Extremely happy to see it is in effect being implemented, even if in a slightly different way than I envisioned.

As was mentioned, the video is ahead of the audio and makes it difficult to follow along in some areas.  Otherwise, very informative.

I didn't have time to get through the whole video...Can PORTABLE ADS-B's be used after 2020 as long as they are ADS-B out? EDIT: I got to watch more and see that I can use a portable model 978 out as I never fly above 18000 and never outside of the US.
